People ask us where the blanket designs come from, and the honest answer is: wherever we happen to love. A festival, a drive south of town, our own hometown changing around us. None of them are random. Every design starts with a real place or a real memory, and once you know the story, the blanket reads a little differently.
Here are a few of our favorites and where they came from.
The Boots blanket
This is our most Nashville design, full stop. The Boots blanket is a tribute to our hometown, the boots you see everywhere here, from the bachelorette parties downtown to the vintage pairs on the folks out in Leiper's Fork. Nashville has changed a lot over the years, but we'll never stop welcoming new folks with a song and a good pair of boots. It's the blanket we reach for when we want to explain this city to someone who's never been.
The Wild Horses blanket
Drive twenty minutes south of Nashville and the land opens up into rolling hills and horse country. The Wild Horses blanket came out of that landscape, all southern charm and wide-open Tennessee. It's one of our most-loved designs, and it makes a lot of sense as a gift for anyone who loves horses or just loves this part of the country.
The animal blankets
We have a whole menagerie by now, and each one started with a particular kind of person in mind. The Good Dogs blanket is covered in hand-drawn breeds, pointers, labs, beagles, hounds, for the dog people who consider their pup a member of the family. The Duck Duck Goose blanket is a tribute to migration season and early mornings in the blind, hunter green with ducks in flight. And Herons in Flight came straight out of the Tennessee wetlands, soft blues and deep greens for the quieter side of the outdoors.
The ones that started at a festival
Some designs are tied to a specific Nashville moment. Our Tomato blanket was designed for the East Nashville Tomato Art Fest, packed with all our favorite varieties, from purple Cherokee to sungold to the green ones you fry. It sold out fast the first time around, so we brought it back for good. That's the fun of designing where you live: the whole city keeps handing you material.
What every design has in common
However different the designs look, they're all the same underneath: 100% cotton, woven in Western North Carolina, designed here in Nashville, and built to last for decades. And every single one, whatever's printed on it, sends a blanket to a neighbor in need when you buy it. The picture on the front changes. The mission underneath never does.
If one of these stories made you picture a specific person, that's usually a sign. Half the fun is matching the design to the human.
